Do 'Energy' or 'Power' vitamin water effect ones sleep?
Hello yahoo'ers,
I received a pack of 'Power' vitamin water for my birthday and I was wondering if I could drink it later in the day then I can caffeine.
So do 'Energy' or 'Power' vitamin water (or any others) effect sleep?
Details that do not really matter, but if you are interested follow:
You see for a number of years I have had a sleep issue. It was somehow connected with the medications I was taking. (I'm Schizoaffective Bipolar) Now that my medications have been greatly reduced my sleep is slowly evening out, but I still miss the days when I could have caffeine after 9 p.m. and sleep fine.
Those days are gone :`(
Energy drinks and stuff have a lot of vitamins and fuel that can be quickly metabolized and used to replace salts and other solutes in the body.
However, that stuff won't affect one's ability to sleep, usually. What CAN affect sleep is caffeine. Check the ingredients to see if any of them are caffeine (also called guaranine and sometimes other names). I know that one type of vitamin water has 20 milligrams (mg) per bottle. That WILL affect your ability to sleep, but it obviously depends on how much you drink and how much you weigh, etc. Other things, like B vitamins and such, won't make you any more or less sleepy or alert.
For reference, a cup of coffee is said to contain 100 mg of caffeine. Compare the caffeine amounts in things you normally drink and the affects will be roughly proportional. For example, if drinking a cup of coffee before you sleep only affects you a little, then drinking a vitamin water with 20 or 50 mg of caffeine will affect you even less.
