Iron deficence in Vegetarian?
How do you boost your iron without eating meat? I have tried iron pills that you buy over the counter, the one with the red cap and a more herbal one, but they make me vomit.
I have a bleeding disorder which means I have an iron deficency. I don't just want to know how to keep my iron level up. I need somthing to help boost them. My doctor is worried and wants me to take iron tablets or at least eat red meat. Any supplements out there that boost without the side effects?
I can't donate blood. My blood is suffed in a variety of ways. Low Iron being one of them.
Eat plenty of green leafy vegetables, such as spinach.
Increase your vitamin C intake, as this helps with iron absorption.
Cook with iron pots.
Avoid too much milk.
Avoid too much softdrink (I assume this means the ones with caffeine).
EDIT: Regular blood donor here too.
Never needed to take an iron tablet, either.
