Where can I buy a genuine silver necklace in Bangkok?
I have been told by one of my Thai friends that there are some legitimate wholesalers along Kho San Rd. They sell them by weight and style.
Where else can I go?
I do not agree with some of the previous answers, hence some comments and another try:
- If you ask tuk-tuk drivers, they will take you to places where they get a commission, which - logically - has to be paid by the people who buy at those shops.
- Chinatown is the center for gold shops, not really fore silver.
My advice would be to go to Narai Phand, which is a government owned souvenir shop.
Alternatives are the third and fourth answer, but also department stores, where you can be reasonably certain that the price is acceptable.
The problem with shops in Thailand always is that you don't know if the price is right, unless you are an expert in the field concerned. Therefore I always advise non-experts to go to shops that do not overcharge you, lie department stores. They have fixed prices.
Of course you could check out prices in Narai Phand or department stores first, end then go to specialized shops.
Google will give you a choice.
