What happens if, after a liver transplant, you don't take your medication and take care of yourself?
A friend of mine had a liver transplant in February. He had to spend some time in a nursing home to recover. He is in his mid fifties. He hasn't been taking his medication. I'm not sure how long he hasn't been taking it. I would like to find out what can or will happen since he hasn't been taking the meds.
He may be depressed, but only his doctor can help out here.
When people are depressed, they don't care about their health as they would in a normal frame of mind.
If it's any help, a recent study showed that mandarin oranges or even the juice, taken daily, can really improve the health of people with liver cancer. Try provoking him into trying it out - if you annoy him or tease him enough, he might try to prove you wrong by trying it out. Can't hurt, & it'll give him a stake in life!
