Help! Tied up horse experience anyone?

In my years with horses I've seen and dealt with horses that have tied up, but my horse takes the cake today. After a workout that was actually light for him, he tied up while being walked out. We've spent all day making him drink lots of water and electrolytes via squirt bottle, and of course, rejoicing everytime he peed. He's still tied up and under the influence of Banamine thanks to the vet. That's all he did. Come out, look at him, give him a shot and say "This will probably wear off in the middle of the night. Let me know in the morning if he's still tied." As much as I love my vet, it really made me mad. Does anyone have more tips on helping out a seriously tied up horse? I know what damage this can cause and just want him to relax until bloodwork comes back.
The only thing he has had to eat since this started was a handful of beetpulp at the suggestion of the vet when he seemed to feel better. Note that last I check (minutes ago) it was still untouched.
Any suggestions??

yes, and i hope one or both will comfort you and your horse.
at the track, it is fairly common, for a horse in the barn to have tieing up syndrome.
aside from a lo carb, lo sugar diet...when they did tie up not only did they get banamine for the pain they got ace promazine given by the vet in a shot. this not only calmed them, as tieing up is so incredibly painful...it also acts as a vasso dilator making the blood routes open up allowing for greater circulation and very quickly the tieing up will subside.
also....long term avoidance is great.
i tired a product that cost 80$, imported from the uk and okayed by my vet.
contact jake at immunall.com
the product is called afterace.
it has nothing to do with ace promazine and is herbal.
it acts as a cleanser of the toxins...and also has anti inflamatorie properties. it is given orally and i found this to be one of the most effective things for my ottb.
tieiong up causes long term lactic acid build p so eventually the horse is almost "trapped" by his own body.
after ace eliminated the lactic acid, and freed my horse up enough to start him on adequan.
without loosening his muscles first...he could have damaged himself when his joints felt better.
he was THAT tied up!
best of luck!
