Would you suggest a SUV or minivan for family of 3 with dog?

We are a family of 3 (2 adults; one infant) plus a large black lab. We have a subaru outback as our main car but are looking at getting a SUV or minivan for our 2nd car. We want to be able to travel with our dog plus have room for bags/cargo; plus we are planning on having more children. Would you recommend an SUV (Highlander, Pilot, Tahoe) or a Minivan (Sienna, Odyssey, Sedona)? Other recommendations welcome.

I like a minivan better just because of the doors. It is so much easier to push a button and have the doors open. The size of the door is also nicer. Try out a few and see which you like better.
