My husband has Dysthymic Disorder and He's not taking very good care of our kids.... help me.?
Please help me. My husband was just diagnosed with Dysthymic Disorder and he's on leave from work to take care of himself. He stays at home with our kids (when he's not working, we can't afford a sitter). Our kids are 3, 2, and 1. I got home today (from a 10 hour shift at work) and there was Vick's salve all over the windows, the kids got into the medicine cabinet and there was medicine all over the place, and the trash can was knocked over with trash all over the floor. My husband is VERY VERY sensitive right now and in a hard emotional state. But I CANNOT handle the fact that he is more or less neglecting our kids when he's at home with them. How do I confront him about it?? I want to leave and take my girls but I feel like I should stick by him with this depression!! help.
maybe you should send this kids to a family member for a little while so that he can focus his time on himself... he really needs time right now and if you want to be supportive arrange alternative arrangements for your children for a few weeks.. while they are gone talk to him about when you think he might be well enough to handle the kids when they are at home...SB
