Why is the alpha and beta particle is deflected in the opposite direction in a magnetic field?
What happened to the gamma rays in a magnetic field?
In a magnetic field the charged particles tend to move in a circle. This is because the force is always at right angles to the direction the particles move at any time like curves. We know the direction of the force because we can see the direction of the particle curve. The points of force against the center of the circle. Let we see the first alpha particle. We point the first finger in the direction of the field and the thumb in the direction of the force. We know that Alpha should move from left to right (away from the source) and second finger we show that this is the direction of conventional current. The Alpha is engaged in the same direction with the conventional time so they must be positively charged. Gamma particles are electrically neutral and therefore not deflected by electric magnetic field. I hope this helps you.
