How can I quit smoking and keep on track with it without starting again?

I have been trying to quit smoking for months now and I always manage to buy cigarettes. There are of course other methods, tips to help you quit, most are about as much use as, well, as continuing to smoke is to your health. Some methods work for some people and not others, but with the right attitude anything can work.
