Why does god murder 70,000 innocent people as punishment for David taking a census?
2 Samuel 24: 1-15
Why didn't he just punish David? Why did he slaughter faithful, god-fearing mothers, fathers, and children? Is this not a pure, undiluted act of evil against his own innocent people?

God likes blood and fire sacrifices; he gets off on carnage like Hitler. Maybe not like Hitler, Adolph had a goal in mind, God doesn't seem to have many goals in mind when he turns loose the carnage. If God was really bright he would have had a plan and implemented well formulated strategies to get what he wanted. He created the laws of nature, you might think he could use them to shape the behavior of his people to get the result he wanted but NOOOOO. God has no skills in shaping behavior; he just slaughters thousands for the fun of it.
Religion requires faith and faith is the belief in the preposterous.
