How do magnetic necklaces heal?
My boyfriend has always had trouble with his knee so a co worker gave him a magnetic necklace and said that it would help with his knee pain. Well within that day of putting it on the pain stopped and he hasn't had the pain since. So how does the magnet necklace/bracelet work and are there any serious side effects I should be worried about and tell him?
I'm thinking it has something to do with the iron in the body, but I'm not sure.

Magnetic jewellery is supposed to work by creating a magnetic field which aligns all the iron in the blood and flows around your body fixing your problems.
BUT the necklaces are actually a fake treatment. This is because the iron in your blood is not ferrous. That means that it is not magnetic. The magnetic field will have absolutely no effect on the blood.
Because the magnetic field is not actually effecting the blood, there's no side effects that you need to worry about. The only thing that you should worry about is whether he is using magnets instead of real treatment (if he needs it). Make sure that he's been to a doctor about the problem.
The power of the mind to relieve pain is a strong one. It's likely that when your boyfriend wore the necklace, the placebo effect actually fixed the pain in his mind, even though the necklace has actually done nothing.
