Lavender Soap
Castile soap in my eye - is it serious?
I was pumping some Dr. Bronner's Lavender Liquid Soap from the dispenser and, since it was a little clogged, the soap squirted out at the exact trajectory necessary to hit my eye. Genius, no? It burned like heck so I scooped water into it for a few minutes and then got in the shower and flushed it out for a good 20-30 minutes, including cupping my hand over my eye, letting the water collect and blinking so as to get as much water through it as possible. It felt a lot better than in the beginning, I could see fine out of the eye, but there was some irritation and a little swelling. After a little while, I went to bed and it felt much better in the morning, but there's still minor irritation and minor swelling.
I was going to wait and see if it continues to improve, but started to worry that I might risk some unknown damage. I figured any potential damage would already be done, but I thought I'd see if anyone has experience with eyes and castile soap. Thank you!
Any kind of soap in the eye will cause irritation for a few days and you flushed it pretty thoroughly. If you have some Basic Saline eye wash that will help even more (do not use any eye drops that have chemicals). You can get a Basic Saline eye wash (like Natural tears) at any pharmacy to add to your eyes to help restore the PH balance. You should be fine the continued irritation is mostly caused by the flushing since it dried out your eyes. Good Luck!
