Fit Amino

What advantage is it to know how the molecules of DNA express themselves as amino acids in proteins?
I need some help with this biology question. Im not so good, so maybe someone could help me out?
there's also this question i was stumped over:
How does the molecular model of genetics fit in with chromosomes and the cellular processes of mitosis?
1.) We can understand gene expression. One of the most recent advances is using RNAi (RNA interference). Since we know the central dogma of biochemistry is: DNA-->RNA-->Protein, we can interfere with the RNA stage, by using RNAi.
RNAi are small RNA molecules (usually double stranded and about 20-30 base pairs in length). These RNAi's bind the mRNA and enzymes digest the mRNA. This means that the genes are not expressed.
RNAi could be used for HIV treatments and other diseases.
2.) Knowing the molecular model of genetics means that we understand how genes are recombined (basically how we get different combinations of genes = different phenotypes). This process is called crossing over.
Also we can understand the actual mechanism of how crossing over occurs.
good luck.
