HELP! My Pyrex measuring cup is melting and on fire!?
I put a meauring cup in the microwave with wax in it to melt. I've done this hundreds of times and this has never happened before. The cup was on fire and now it's in my sink cracking and melting! what the hell? This particular one is fairly new. It was inly in the microwave for about 3 mins!!
There is big hole the size of a quarter melted in the side of the cup. I thought Pyrex measuring cups were supposed to be able to withstand high temp?
If you didn't set the power level or got a new microwave, it could have been to much heat. If someone else by mistake changed the power level from 900watts to 1300watts it could have set on fire because it was way to hot. Make sure you set the power level before you microwave, Also some of the wax might of boiled over and started itself on fire.
