Energy Bars
Is it bad for you to eat too many energy bars?
I practically live on Z- bars. I have a really tight schedule and eat them a lot when I am in a hurry. And I am in a hurry a LOT! I heard somewhere that eating too many of them is really, really bad for you. Is that true?
Please Help!
(p.s. Does weight make a difference?)
The truth is, eating too many energy bars outside of sports events can do many things to you:
1) There is usually very high sugar content in energy bars, and therefore, if you eat three bars a day or more as meal replacements, you'd be taking in a lot of excess sugar.
2) Although energy bars are advertised as healthy and are quite a step up from regular old candy bars, they do not give you all of the nutrition you need. Things like calcium, vitamin D, and many minerals cannot all be found in an energy bar. (And, chances are, most of the nutritients found in your Z-bar are from chemicals)
3) Lastly, fiber is usually relatively low in energy bars like Z-bars. Although they have a small amount, even eating three a day would not be enough to get you the proper amount of iber.
So, all in all, although energy bars are alright paired with sports events and okay to eat every once and awhile, you're really just eating a candy bar studded with chemicals to provide nutritients at every meal. I would recommend trying to get something else to eat, at least occassionally.
