Do I need to see a Doctor if I have white blood cells in my urine?
I have been feeling like I was getting an UTI , fever, frequency urinating, buring, ect. At first signs I started taking 3 (1680mg) cranberry pills 3x daily, drinking water, taking cycstic and goldenseal root and echinacea for over a week, now I just used an AZO test strip and it showed positive for wbc's in urine at the darkest level. I wanted to get better without prescription medicines because I do not have insurance. Can anyone help?
Pathogenic or disease causing microorganisms thrive in alkaline or basic environment. Cranberry pills or even the juice intends to maintain the acidity of the urine so bacteria wouldn't survive. Drinking a lot of water makes you pee a lot thereby eliminating the microorganisms in your bladder and washes away the bacteria along your urinary tract.White blood cells are called the soldiers of the body. Whenever there are foreign bodies..... bacteria in the body they are sent to that site and they ingest and digest them...the white blood cells turns to pus cells.
SO, presence of white blood cells in your urine coupled with a fever (which is a natural defense mech. ) of means you have an infection going on.infection could be just in your urinary tract, or it could extend up to the bladder, ureter, kidney,etc. It could even be an STD. Even if symptoms starts to decrease from drinking a lot of water and cranberry juice it doesn`t necessarily mean you are getting better and it`s going away. The bacteria causing it could still be there.
You better go to the doctor now.
They won`t turn you away even you don`t have insurance. They will be in trouble if something happens to you if you don`t get treatment just because you don`t have insurance.
