How does the cookie diet work?
I've been hearing about a "cookie diet" and instead of making assumptions I was wondering how it works?
The cookie diet is simply a meal replacement. According to the R&D Diet Cookie website:
"R&D Diet Cookie provides a meal replacement cookie engineered for rapid weight loss by eliminating hunger and cravings. The cookie provides the dieter an opportunity to stop yo-yo- dieting by quickly losing the weight. Quick weight loss is the best motivator and recent studies show it is healthier to lose the weight quickly and keep it off rather than going through the cycles of losing and gaining that usually accompany slow weight loss."
So...
1. You go on a low calorie diet (around 800/day) with the help of the cookie.
2. You lose weight quickly (because of the low calories, not the cookie) and stay on that phase of the diet as long as you want/need to because the cookie eliminates hunger and cravings.
Also according to the website, what you have learned during this time is:
1. Portion control - you've learned you don't have to eat all the time because you feel full, satisfied, not craving.
2. You have taken control of your eating, food doesn't control you anymore.
The website advises, after you lose the weight, in order to maintain your weight loss you either:
1. Incorporate the cookies, as a meal or snack substitute, into your daily eating in order to stay in control... 1 or 2 daily, or
2. Eat a healthy diet and use the cookies occasionally when you lose control of your eating.
