Cal Plus
Can someone explain calories and loosing weight?? 3,500 cal = 1 lb?
So do I have to burn 3,500 cal to loose 1 lb?Do I have to burn all the calories I eat plus an extra 500 per day or what?? How do I loose 1-2 lb per week without going to the gym or better yet,having to leave my home!! I have a baby to care for.Thanks!!

Use this one: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.php so that you can see how many calories per day you burn by choosing activities you do and see how many calories you burn in a 24 hr period. So put in 6hrs sleep, 5 hrs watching tv, 3 hrs walking around house, ect ect.
Then subtract how many calories per day you tend to eat- or will start eating with your diet (lets say you will restrict your intake to 1400 calories then take the number you burn according to the above calculator and subtract the number you intake and you will get your calorie deficit or surplus) Use this calculator: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_food.php to see how many calories the food you consume have.
Here is an example: You burn 1800 calories per day from your regular activities. You tend to consume 2000 calories. If you want to loose one pound per week you need to have a deficit of 500. If you don't want to change your activity habits you can cut your caloric intake to 1300 calories in order to have that deficit. If you just want to add exercise you will have to do something that will help you burn an extra 700 calories per day. Or you can do both and reduce your caloric intake to 1600 (which creates a 200 caloric deficit) and then find activities that will add 300 do your total burned calories per day.
Remember as you loose weight the activities you do will burn less and less calories (A 200 lb person doing 1 hr of walking is going to spend more calories than a 120 lb person doing 1 hr of walking) so if you have lots of weight to lose you have to adjust your formulas as you go.
