ADN/RN or BSN/RN when looking to move onto MPH?
I currently hold a B.A. and have several years of business experience under my belt. I'm taking prerequisites in order to enter either an ADN or Accelerated BSN program. At this point I'm leaning more toward the ADN/RN, because I'd prefer to work while I complete the program and keep costs to a minimum. As I see it the cost factor may end up being a 50K difference when all is said and done!!! I then plan to start work as an RN and go for my MPH on a part-time basis during my first few years of working. I'm conflicted on whether or not this is the best choice in terms of my career. Would I fare better with the BSN?!
HArd to say because you really don't state what your actual ultimate goal is--what exactly do you wish to do with the MPH? And what area of PH are you thinking of enetering with the MPH (say, industrial hygiene; then the BSRN wouldn't matter at all) If you think you would leave nursing pretty completely, then the ADN is all you need. Your job opportunities & pay scale for the ADN are pretty much the same as the BSRN for basic floor nursing.
