Can I take black elderberry syrup while on Coumadin?
I know during the flu season (especially with H1N1 around), a lot of people are taking more Elderberry to build up their immune system, but unfortunately Skepdoc is right that Coumadin is notorious for interacting with SO many things. It's good to build up the immune system so you don't have to worry as much, but your best (and safest) bet would be to ask a pharmacist if there are any interactions listed between the drugs and supplements you're taking. Doctors and pharmacists both have access to a database of drug and supplement interactions and they can tell you quickly if you can safely take them together or not.... anyone here will just have a best guess from searching on the internet (which isn't always accurate, as we all know)
