There is no easy way to lose weight (except amputation or surgery). If losing weight were as simple as taking a pill or eaching acai berries, we wouldn't have a society of overweight people (and I'd be eating berries all the time right after I downed french fries). Acai berries, like most fruits, are probably good for you anyway simply because they add fiber to your diet. People who don't normally consume much fiber or fruit daily who suddenly start the acai diet may lose weight simply because they are filling up on fruit rather than cookies or cakes. And since acai berries come in dried form too, people can just pop some dried fruit into their mouth to satisfy oral cravings. But you can do the same with blueberries and strawberries, pomergranites, cherries, orange slices, apples, etc. So don't waste your money. Having thyroid issues is going to affect how your body metabolizes food so make sure you and your doctor have your thyroid med levels balanced (and you should be checked at least once a year because these levels often change).
And I recently read a news article about some researcher who found that mice who didn't have a certain bacteria in their gut system gained massive amounts of weight because without the bacteria their bodies were switching on the "you need to eat" impulse in the brain. When that bacteria (I think it was a bacteria--should try to track down that article and reread it) was transferred from a normal-eating mouse to the obese mouse, the obese mouse stopped gorging and eventually lost enough weight to be normal again. That's hopeful, maybe with all the additives and preservatives and refining and whatnot done to our food they've removed something vital for keeping our weight normal. Or whatever.
What you need to do is up your exercise so even if you don't lose a lot of weight, your body is in good physical shape. Find something you don't really mind doing every day. My best friend found out, after working there for 5 years, that an employee of her company she was entitled to use the gym across the street for free between really early hours and really late hours--so since she's a dawntreader anyway she goes to that gym every day before work to ride a stationary bike (she always like bicycling as a child, and now she can bike and watch the early news at the same time) and does certain weights to strengthen her bones and joints (she tends to have knee/ankle problems), and in the summer she swims just cause she loves swimming. She says it helps her be prepared for the assault of work since her juices are already revved by the time she gets to work, and she feels less guilty about eating her lunch early (she hasn't changed her eating habits since they were pretty clean anyway, but she moved her meals up by an hour so she no longer is sleeping on her dinner). She does just 30 mins at the gym, and is out walking (not fast anymore since her knees are bad) whenever the weather permits on weekends. I don't think she's lost much weight but she no longer is bordering on diabetic and her hypertension has lowered.
