- She recommends 300mg garlic a day, plus 1g vit. C 3 times a day.
- She also states that echinacea can help boost the immune system.
However, I did a search of the Cochrane Database (The most reliable journal search around), and they have found no evidence that echinacea or garlic do much in treating infections...
From my knowledge of dentistry, I can tell you that the infection will not go away without dental treatment. The source of the infection is in a tooth that has very little blood supply. Your body has a very hard time getting into the tooth to fight the infection and antibiotics have a very hard time getting into the tooth to fight the infection, and there is clear evidence that antibiotics do fight infections.
The only way to get rid of your abscess is to open it up, either through the tooth or surgically through the gum.
There is no point waiting for the infection to go down first, the abscess needs to be drained so the majority of bacteria is removed, and then you will need antibiotics. You will require a root canal therapy of the tooth following that.
Please book the dental appointment now, you will just prolong the pain and damage by waiting...
