why does man like being in an altered state of mind?
I find that man loves to be drunk or high off of weed or even tobacco, why does this come as a relief and mostly then why is weed illegal I mean its a well known fact in the science comunity that beer is 10 times more deadly than weed so WTF!!
Any substance you ingest that kills brain cells (alcohol, drugs) will lead to a stunt of personal growth. So lets say you start drinking at age 15, chances are you will never successfully complete the later stages of Erikson or obtain the higher levels of Maslow unless you take the initiative to 'kick start' the process.
By the time you reach the maturity level that allows you to do drugs or drink alcohol responsibly, you've probably begun to realize how useless it is to engage in such behaviors.
Most people who do drugs and alcohol do it because they are attempting to escape from pressures in their life. Because if they truly were happy with their life, they probably wouldn't do anything self destructive.
